Kea Carpets and Kilims is excited to present ‘For Beginners’, a collection of handwoven rugs by Dee Clements of Studio Herron. This collection blends bold, graphic compositions with textural fabric structures. The interaction of shape, line and color are deliberate and thoughtful, referencing personal history and 1990’s pop-culture. During 2016, Clements had the opportunity to spend a month in Iceland, as an artist-in-residence at The Icelandic Textile Center in Blonduos, where she worked on a 90 year-old homemade countermarch loom to weave two of the rugs in this show. Other rugs in this exhibition were woven in her studio in Chicago and at AZ West in Joshua Tree, CA.
